Art and Design
Aims
This programme consists of SQA units and provides basic knowledge and skills in a broad range of artistic subjects. You are introduced to the concepts of independent learning whilst being supported by tutors using a wide variety of teaching methods and techniques. This programme is suitable for you if you require supported lessons in Art and Design and wish to progress to a higher level programme.
Structure
You will be encouraged to develop your creative and expressive skills by participating in tutor-led thematic projects in semester one and negotiated thematic projects in semester two. You will be actively encouraged to time plan, brainstorm ideas and use sketch books to record your ideas, research, develop and evaluate your work. You will be introduced to class and peer evaluative critiques.
Progression
Progression is to the HNC Art and Design, available at Carnegie College, or directly to a degree at Art College. Carnegie has links with many art colleges and universities including Duncan of Jordanstone College, Edinburgh College of Art and Grays College of Art and Design in Aberdeen.
